Hi Corvidius (Roman isn't it )
Before getting too carried away I immediately checked the book you mentioned out and it says:
Quote
This is a popular account of Egyptian architecture which discusses building techniques and technologies before examining the great monuments of Egypt in roughly chronological succession, ending with the temples at Philae. Very attractively illustrated in colour, this remains a serious book which juxtaposes glossy (and some unusual) photos with temple plans and other pictorial sources for reconstructing the architects and builders lives.
Now if the temple plans have detailed measurements then I would be most interested however I am more interested in why they chose 440 cubits for the base of G1, or why they chose 411 for the base of G2 or why they chose 201.5 for the base of G3 and why the bases of the three pyramids at Giza added to their respective heights is equal to the direct southerly (or vertical) distance from the north base of G1 to the south base of G3 when it is projected easterly to meet the vertical line drawn. Also why the ratio between G1 and G2 (440 and 411 or 1.07056) is except for the fact we have rounded (many here do not like me posting too many decimals) precisely equal to the square root of 3 (1.73205081) and Phi (1.618034) or 1.7320508 / 1.618034 = 1.07046 and why the distance from the north projected line of G1 to center of G2 and from center of G2 to south base of G3 is in precisely this same ratio.
Or why the ratio of G2 + G3 or 612.50 divided by the base of G1 or 612.5 / 440 or 1.39205 is precisely equal to the ratio of the equatorial diameters of Mars (6794.4) and Mercury (4879.4) or 6794.4 / 4879.4 or 1.39247 and perhaps a couple of hundred other ratios that seem to check. Or the significance of the angle of the sloping passageways as they all seem to be extremely close to being the same. Or how about a detailed analysis of The Pyramid at Meidum ? Has anyone ever analyzed the data that Petrie published for what they could mean (I have)?
And the list goes on and on. Well some of us are a bit more interested in these things than what color clothes were worn.
Or just one last one ... why 1/2 the base of G1 when divided into the base of G2 (411/220 or 1.8681) gives us the same ratio as the semi major axis of Venus and Mercury (108,808,930 / 57,909,050 or 1.8686)
