It would appear to my "untrained eye" that the artist did indeed use a stencil of some sort, the images are too close to exact to have been done freehand.

Thus it would appear that the "sketcher" used a stencil and the painter came along and filled it in later.

Can anyone tell me what this symbol represents ?
