Hi Roxana, on what are you basing this information ? Where in the record does it state that he was "an ancient Egyptian official of unusual intelligence" ... Contemporary records of course is what I am looking for,
Here is what is listed on a few sites: [
www.ancient-egypt-online.com]
"
Imhotep was a revered healer, architect, High Priest, sage, and adviser to King Djoser. Born a commoner, Imhotep became preeminent in his time in many fields. What we know of his life is fascinating.
Scholars think he was born in either Ankhtow, a suburb of Memphis, or Gebelein, a village south of Thebes in the 27th century BC. He was born on the 16th day of Epiphi, the third month of harvest. His father may have been another architect, Kanofer. His mother may have been Khreduonkh, from the province of Mendes.
It is believed Imhotep served under as many as four kings. His burial place was not known after his death. Although likely to be somewhere in Saqqara, it is a prize yet to be found.
Now I ask again who are these "scholars" who think as underlined and what evidence do they base it on.
Doesn't seem like that tough a question.
However Wiki and many other sites say this:
Imhotep Egyptian: "the one who comes in peace"; fl. late 27th century BC) was an Egyptian chancellor to the pharaoh Djoser, probable architect of the step pyramid, and high priest of the sun god Ra at Heliopolis. Very little is known of Imhotep as a historical figure, but in the 3000 years following his death, he was gradually glorified and deified.
Now obviously one of these is in error and so I am curious what your source is for your biography of him Roseanne. I am curious where in the record it states that he was ... an Egyptian. Chancellor to The King (not Pharaoh ! ... the actual term "Pharaoh" was not used contemporaneously for a ruler until circa 1200 BCE.) possibly but how do we know he was an Egyptian, born in Egypt ? His name says "he who comes in peace" maybe he came from somewhere else in peace ... and asking me well where did he come from then Don is not allowed yet.
