Again I know I am quite late but I have only just recently started studying the standing stones in depth. I had noticed that there seemed to be only about maybe a dozen, probably less different versions of these stone. No matter where I looked I saw familiar ones. Now I have just stumbled onto this site and the stones again seem identical to those found in Britain and at Orkney.
Has anyone else noticed this ?

I have begun to speculate, because of the sameness of the stones, that they may in fact be some sort of writing or at the very least symbols or perhaps even a numbering system. Specific stones in a circle could stand for a specific angle or have a basic meaning.
Too bad I am as old as i am. A study like this would take years ... but seriously check out the standing stones. You will be amazed at how many are the same all over England and now at Nabta Playa
