I was reading an interesting article recently that was pointing out that the Siberian peoples seem to have had a horned (antlered) goddess as their main deity. The author was working on the idea that the horned male gods came later as ancient people moved away from the cult of Earth/mother goddess to male gods. Or could be a drift of shamanic beliefs from female shamans to male?

I wandered off and read WAY too many internet pages on the topic after that. Some (as always) are junk. Now I can't find the original that sparked the idea, so cannot link. My apologies.
