I'm neither a fan of that, see it more as a deep distraction away from the more important topics and let's try to avoid that topic here.

I see, Sosigenes was the astronomer consultant to Cleopatra and also Caesar. That would make sense as he was definitely aware of the Sirius midnight culmination time during the year and may have brought that into the discussion as suggestion while Caesar was looking for something of similar importance to anchor his own calendar as Cleopatra already had in Egypt with the Isis new year ceremony.
